She who Dreams Big...
This summer, we've had the privilege of working with Canadian Bobsleigh athlete,
Melissa These (pronounced "Tays").
The Shoot
The shot above is one more great sky we got, as a result of being in the flow. The Upholder is akin to the idea of Atlas -- here, holding up the city of Calgary fits...as Melissa trains for winter qualifications.
"The Upholder" - Bit O' Backstory
Upholder was a term Jen used to describe the goddess concept Melissa inspired for The Aquarians story. Sometimes we meet people who fit a character archetype we've already created...
Then sometimes a person inspires a character --I think everyone would agree, this woman is an inspiration! In our sometimes-plodding lives, we forget all the human mind-body-spirit connection can create...
Hostess with the Mostess
Amy organized the get together and created a fantastic barbecue feast, prior to setting to work!
Dilled salmon, goat cheese and blueberry salad and new potatoes and a crisp white to set it off...mmm happy pallettes!
At times, AQ shoots attract what Jen refers to as the "peanut gallery". This time it was Corinn and Janelle (on the far left and left above)...face/body-painting is infectious fun!
Back on TrackJen sets to work on Melissa's beautiful back, bringing chakra and kundalini symbolism up her spine!
The neighbour guys shock (and dare-I-say dream)...
This work is about highlighting years of work and study...and showing the world an The Aquarian perspective of beauty. NOT 20-something male fantasies.
However, the art of dreaming is different for everyone...
On location with pesky blood suckers...Amy scratches that unreachable itch!
We were all a bit nervous. It was our first collaboration, we were losing light and unsure of locations. Melissa's focus and athletic performance training made it easy, many thanks!
